WWE Superstar Roman Reigns REVEALS Leukemia diagnosis; relinquishes Universal Championship
Roman Reigns shocked the WWE Universe on Monday Night Raw when the wrestler revealed that he has been suffering from Leukemia for 11 years and now it's back again. The wrestler was then seen relinquishing his Universal Championship.
For the WWE universe, Monday Nights are reserved for RAW. And the man at the forefront of it all is WWE Superstar and Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. Whether you love him or hate him, you can't ignore the fact that if there is one wrestler who has taken the baton of being the face of WWE from John Cena, it's Roman Reigns aka Joe Anoa'i. Roman started his WWE career in FCW and then took over RAW and Smackdown with his Shield mates Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.
Post, the breakup of The Shield, Roman was pushed to the top of the ranks immediately and became the first out of the trio to win the WWE Championship. Just like John Cena, Roman garnered polarised reactions but that did not stop him from having some of the best matches in recent wrestling history. Hence, it came as a shocker to everyone today during RAW's taping, when an emotional Roman revealed that he had been suffering from Leukemia, for the past 11 years, and now, it was back again.

Revealing the tragic news to a stunned audience, Roman shared, "My real name is Joe and I've been living with leukemia for 11 years and unfortunately, it's back. And because the leukemia is back I cannot fulfill my role, I can't be that fighting champion and I'm going to have to relinquish my Universal Championship."
"Do you want to know who gave me a chance - the team that gave me a chance was the WWE. And when I finally made it to the main roster, I was on the road and they put me in front of you, the WWE Universe, and to be honest, you all have made my dreams come true," Roman stated thanking the WWE.
Talking about the WWE Universe, Roman thanked the fans as he said, "And it didn't matter if you cheered me, it didn't matter if you booed me, you've always reacted to me and that is the most important thing and for, that I have to say thank you so much." At the finality of his gut-wrenching speech, Roman concluded, "But you all know the deal and how life is. Life's not always fair, it's not all peaches and cream. Sometimes life throws you a curve ball. And right now, the best thing for me is to go home, focus on my family and my health."
Towards the end of the segment, Roman was greeted by a distraught Seth and Dean as they hugged their Shield brother and did their iconic sign before bidding a final goodbye to the WWE Universe.
