Ranveer Singh has started prepping for Zoya Akhtar’s next Gully Boy. The actor will be teaming up with Zoya for the second time after Dil Dhadakne Do.
Gully Boy is inspired by the lives of two rappers Vivian Fernandes aka Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy. Ranveer has been taking rapping lessons from Divine to prepare for his role in the film.

Talking about Ranveer, Divine had said, "He's a cool guy and already dresses like a rapper so he needs no tips in the fashion department from me. It is one thing to get audiences to wake up and listen to our kind of music, which is not about girls, gold, and drugs but about real life in Mumbai. But it is an even greater thing when mainstream actors like Ranveer chose to beaGully Boy. He's now a part of our movement."
Ranveer will be working with Alia Bhatt in the film. Ranveer’s film, Padmavati has been mired in controversies and Ranveer has moved on to his next, Gully Boy. Padmavati was slated to release on 1st December, but due to the threats against the film, the makers have deferred it.
Ranveer is keen to move on,” says our source. “He has already committed dates to Zoya for the film, and hence can’t let everything wait. He has already been told to not do media interviews for Padmavati before the release. And after the indefinite postponement of the movie, he cannot let other films, including Gully Boy, suffer, because he’s a thorough professional. The Padmavati shoot already meant that Gully Boy’s pre-production work was under stress. And this postponement will not let it be hampered further. Thankfully, everyone in the film industry — including Zoya — understands how Sanjay Leela Bhansali works. So they have given Ranveer a lot more space.”
