Watch how Aamir Khan reacts after writer of Salute by mistake reveals that Mahabharata is Khan's next project
At a press conference, Salute's writer REVEALED that it was Mahabharata that kept Aamir Khan this consumed and that was the reason for him not doing Rakesh Sharma's biopic. Check out Aamir's reaction.
Aamir Khan was to play the role of Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma and the news was everywhere. Fans were excited to see Khan play the role. Then, came the news that Aamir has left the project because of creative differences with the film’s crew. Salute is the directorial debut of Mahesh Mathai. But, that's NOT the real reason why Aamir chose to walk out. Well, he was consumed by a larger project called Mahabaharata. At a press conference, he clarified his stance and wished Shah Rukh Khan who is now playing the role of Rakesh Sharma, all the best.
"I think it's a great script and I am a huge fan of Rakesh. I feel sad that I couldn't do it. That's why I called Shah Rukh Khan and told him to hear the script. I am so glad that he liked it and he is doing it. All my best wishes for the project," said Aamir. Anjum Rajabali, who was also present with Aamir at the conference, said he was looking forward to work with Aamir Khan for his next but also revealed that it's Mahabharata that's keeping the actor consumed. Yes, it's finally now confirmed.
"I have been very excited about the project. Like Aamir, I have been a big fan of Rakesh and now he is a good friend also. Frankly speaking, I was very keen that Aamir does it and he, at that moment, had liked it. We had discussed it a lot. We had a lot of hopes for it but unfortunately (there was) the larger project of 'Mahabharata', which he was consumed by," said the Anjum.

Aamir, who was sitting just next to Anjum, said, "Aree Baapre" and started laughing. We are excited to see Aamir Khan in Mahabharata. During the promotion of 'Secret Superstar, Aamir Khan had opined that he would love to do an adaptation of 'Mahabharata' and play Karna in it, but it would take 10-15 years of his time, and by then, he would have to play Krishna due to his physique. According to reports, Mahabharata will be a seven-part long web series. The actor will be flying to the USA to work on the script.
