Deepika Padukone attends the inaugural event of Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence in Bengaluru
Deepika Padukone’s father and Badminton champion, Prakash Padukone along with Rahul Dravid launched the Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence, India’s premier sports facility. Deepika Padukone and alleged beau Ranveer Singh were in attendance at the event in Bengaluru that also saw sporting legends like Abhinav Bindra, Vishwanathan Anand, Geet Sethi and others in attendance, besides Prakash Padukone and Rahul Dravid.
Deepika Padukone shared an emotional anecdote on the stage at the inaugural ceremony of the academy. She spoke about her father’s virtues and how humility is a key virtue.
She also posted a special photo on her social media account and captioned it, “Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence[PDCSE]—this is by far the BEST thing that could’ve happened to Indian Sport! Congratulations!

In an interview with us, Prakash Padukone had shared his views about daughter Deepika’s Bollywood journey. He had said, “She has become more responsible over the years and has learnt to manage her career and professional life very well. She is very organised and has definite plans for the future and works towards that goal meticulously. We as parents' are extremely happy and delighted the way her career has progressed. She has reached this level only through her hard work & determination. We want her career to continue in the same way. Her choice of career did not come as surprise to us as she was always interested in fashion shows and modelling though as a child she did play badminton at the national level. Her first love was always modelling. Film career happened subsequently.”
