Deepika Padukone’s father Prakash Padukone has been honored with ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ by the Badminton Association of India today. Prakash Padukone was ecstatic on being conferred with the honour. He was accompanied by his wife Ujala Padukone and daughters – Anisha and Deepika at the event, held in Delhi.
After winning the prestigious award, the Indian badminton legend, Prakash Padukone gave an inspirational acceptance speech. He said, ‘’I played a small part in what the game has achieved today. I played purely for the love of the game without expecting anything in return. I did not play badminton to make money, to win awards, to win rewards, or to make my parents happy or to please anyone else. I only played for my own satisfaction.’’
Deepika, who is extremely close to her father, can be seen beaming with pride in the video and she also got really emotional after her dad was bestowed with the award.

Meanwhile, Deepika looked extremely regal in a peach colored silk saree. She opted for a low bun and exquisite jewelry to complete her look. Ujala Padukone and Anisha Padukone also sported traditional attires.
Deepika in an earlier interview had said about her father, ''One of the life-lessons my father (Prakash Padukone) gave me when I started out was that getting to the top may not be as hard as staying there. For some reason, that thought keeps coming back to me. And today, I understand what he said. It has not been easy. At the same time, I value everything that I have today because I have worked very hard to get to where I am.''
Talking about Deepika, Prakash Padukone had earlier said, ''She has become more responsible over the years and has learnt to manage her career and professional life very well. She is very organised and has definite plans for the future and works towards that goal meticulously.''
