Star Screen Awards 2018: Deepika Padukone tears up as husband Ranveer Singh wins the Best Actor award
Deepika Padukone got emotional as husband Ranveer Singh won the best actor award at Star Screen Awards tonight. He dedicated his award to his late grandmother.
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh attended Star Screen Awards 2018 held in Mumbai tonight. The newlyweds looked stunning in colour-coordinated outfits. They posed for photos for the media. Ranveer Singh looked dapper in a black printed suit whereas Deepika wowed in a black Anamika Khanna outfit and completed her look with pearl jewellery. Ranveer Singh won the Best Actor Award for his acting in Padmaavat. Ranveer essayed a negative character for the first time in Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial that released in January this year.
His winning speech won hearts and wife Deepika Padukone beamed with pride. She got emotional as Ranveer gave his acceptance speech on stage. He said, “Film main mujhe Rani nahi mili ( I did not get the Queen in the film), but in real life, I have got my Queen,” he said pointing towards Deepika. Ranveer added, “Baby, I love you, pichhle 6 saal main maine kuch bhi achieve kiya hai, kyunki aap ne mujhe grounded rakha, centered rakha, thank you for everything and I love you. (Whatever I have achieved in the last 6 years is because you kept me centered and grounded)”

Ranveer also thanked Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the opportunity of playing Khilji and for shaping him as an actor. He also thanked his parents and sister after winning the award. Ranveer dedicated his award to his grandmother, who passed away this year.
Ranveer garnered immense appreciation for his performance in Padmaavat. He played the evil and menacing character, Alauddin Khilji with aplomb.
