Sanju Teaser: Ranbir Kapoor becomes one with Sanjay Dutt; masterfully takes us on his journey
Ranbir Kapoor steps into the shoes of Sanjay Dutt in Rajkumar Hirani's Sanju which chronicles the ups and downs of Dutt's colourful and controversial life. Sanju is slated to release on June 29, 2018.
Ever since it was announced that Ranbir Kapoor will be essaying the role of Sanjay Dutt, whose life is worthy of a biopic, we were left with bated breaths to see how Kapoor would match up to Dutt. Sanju is directed by Rajkumar Hirani and along with Ranbir, the movie also stars an eclectic cast featuring Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Dia Mirza, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Vicky Kaushal and Karishma Tanna.
While leaked photos from the sets got tongues wagging, the teaser of Sanju will leave you rampant and wanting for more this instant.
In the teaser, which was shared today, Ranbir as Sanjay gives us a small glimpse into his colourful and controversial journey. With a tinge of humour and hinting at the dark phases of Dutt's life, leaving no stones unturned (including his jail term), we are asked to buckle up our seatbelts for an adventure-filled ride.

Meanwhile, in an interview with DNA, Rajkumar spoke candidly about Ranbir and when asked if there were any similarities between Sanjay and Ranbir, the filmmaker revealed, "Both come from film families, and have that X-factor, the charm. They have lived the life of actors all through. Ranbir is not someone from outside the industry who came here to be a hero. In a sense, it was easier for me to see him as Sanju. Physically, they’re not similar. Sanju is bigger, but Ranbir is slightly taller than him. He doesn’t seem so, but it is true. Ranbir worked very hard to get the physicality right. He spent days watching tons of videos to strike the right balance and when you observe him in the film, you will notice that there is a resemblance of Sanjay Dutt, yet you know it is Ranbir Kapoor. If he did anything slightly more, it would look caricaturish and if he did a little less, it wouldn’t work. I didn’t think about anyone else. I first thought of Ranbir and went straight to him and I can tell you, we were right."
Sanju is slated to release on June 29, 2018.
