The Me too movement has gained momentum in India and many men and women are speaking out about being subjected to unpleasant experiences. The impact of the movement has been that many powerful men have had to step down from their positions. Sajid Khan has been asked to step away from Housefull 4, Vikas Bahl may be ousted from his film Super 30, YRF has sacked Ashish Patil and CINTAA and IFTDA has initiated action against Alok Nath and Nana Patekar.

Salman Khan’s ex-girlfriend Somy Ali had written a post on Instagram and had opened up about being sexually assaulted at a young age. She had also commended the victims who had spoken out against sexual predators and had urged them to not be discouraged by non-believers. Today, Somy Ali shared a video on her Facebook page talking about the Me too movement. She emphasized that young boys and men are also victims sometimes and shared that it equally impacts men and women.

Sexual harassment and other aspects of harassment impact all of us including men. I commend Saif for speaking up. Let’s keep this alive and get the bad guys! . . . #metoomovement #metooindia #somyali #saifalikhan #bravo #keepatit #cantgiveup #metoomen #movement

As a survivor of sexual abuse at the age of 5 and rape at 14, I would like to salute all those that have spoken up and plan on doing so. I know it is very difficult to do it because I have been there and it took me many years to be able to talk about it. It takes immense amount of courage to share this with the world. It’s even harder when you tell those that are close to you and they are supposed to protect you, yet they do nothing. I have been there too and it hurts like hell. But I want these survivors to know it is truly liberating and completely worth it. Do not let the nonbelievers stop you. This is your truth. Do not ever be afraid to speak your truth. Do not let this opportunity pass you. This is a moment that has been long overdue for all of us. This is your chance to be heard and finally obtain justice. I believe you. . . . . #metoo #ibelieveyou #somyali #speakup #shoutitout #iamwithyou #survivors #truth #takeastand #staystrong #wecandoit #justice #longoverdue #pakistan #india #bollywood

She lauded Saif Ali Khan for sharing his Me Too story. Saif had said recently that he was harassed 25 years ago and that he is still angry about it. Saif said that the harassment was not sexual in nature.

She also talked about groping and how she was a victim of it while shooting in Mumbai. She said that a bunch of men tried to grope her. She had to run and fight and Satish Shah had then come to her rescue.
