Rishi Kapoor recently tweeted that he is taking a leave of absence from work to go to the United States for medical treatment. He shared that after 45 years of 'wear & tear' in the movies, he is going to America for some medical treatment. He also urged his fans to not speculate or worry unnecessarily. Today, the veteran actor shared a slow-motion video on Twitter in which he is taking a stroll with close friend Anupam Kher. Rishi Kapoor posted, "New York,Manhattan. “Kher-free” or is it “Care-free”on Madison Avenue with colleague and old friend Anupam Kher this afternoon!"

Rishi Kapoor is accompanied by son Ranbir Kapoor and wife Neetu Kapoor in New York. As per a Zee News report, they have rented an apartment in New York City. Ranbir Kapoor may return to India soon for the shoot of his films. Rishi and Neetu Kapoor will then be joined by their daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. A media outlet reported recently that Rishi Kapoor is suffering from cancer which is in an advanced stage. The report further added that Rishi Kapoor has been adviced treatment which includes chemotherapy for 45 days.

Rishi Kapoor's brother Randhir Kapoor had dismissed this report and had said that Rishi is in New York to get his tests done. He himself does not know what ailment he is suffering from. Randhir Kapoor assured everyone that they will share results of the tests with his fans. He also asked people not to speculate whether Rishi Kapoor is suffering from cancer.
