Ranveer Singh’s old Koffee with Karan interview goes viral amidst Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul controversy
Ranveer Singh is being called out by netizens for his comments on an earlier season of Koffee with Karan.
Cricketers KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya’s episode from Koffee with Karan has been pulled down after outrage on social media. Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul made misogynistic comments and talked about their night outs. KL Rahul mentioned how he partied till 5 AM before a match and Hardik Pandya boasted about his escapades on the show. The cricketers have been suspended provisionally and have been sent back from Australia where Team India is playing an international series. An enquiry will be conducted post which a final decision will be made by the BCCI.
In the midst of this controversy, a video from an earlier season of Koffee with Karan has gone viral on social media. Ranveer Singh makes an appearance with Band Baaja Baarat co-star Anushka Sharma in the episode. Ranveer Singh says to Anushka Sharma during an instance on the show, “You want your ass pinched? I am right here.” Anushka tells Ranveer to not speak to her like that. Ranveer also talks about his admiration for Kareena Kapoor Khan on the show. He narrates an incident and says, “I went from a child to a boy,” and Anushka adds, “because she used to come to swim at the club.”
Seven years later, netizens are calling out not only Ranveer Singh but also Karan Johar for not taking a stand then.Ranveer has not reacted to the old clips of his doing the rounds of social media yet.
Ranveer Singh has expressed support for the Me Too movement in India and has lauded courageous women who have named and shamed predators. Ranveer has said in interviews that the movement is historic and has made men take stock.
