John Abraham's Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran might be embroiled in a tough battle with the producers, but the actor is surging ahead with the film's release.
John today took to his Twitter account to share the teaser of his much-anticipated movie alongside Diana Penty. He wrote, ''The biggest secret operation ever that shook the entire world. #ParmanuTeaser out now.The nuke explodes in cinemas on 4th May 2018. @DianaPenty @BomanIrani #AbhishekSharma @SaiwynQ @sanyukthaC.''
The one-minute teaser sets the stage for the film. There is old documentary footage interspersed with snippets from Jawaharlal Nehru’s iconic independence speech. The footage highlights the country's pivotal moments - the 1971 war, the victory at the world cup in 1983 and finishes with Boman Irani talking about a historic mission that was lost in the pages of history - the nuclear tests conducted at Pokhran in 1998. We then get John Abraham declaring, “It’s time for India to become a nuclear state.”
Talking about the film, John had earlier stated to a leading tabloid, "I have never been in a hurry to produce films and have been searching for subjects that are engaging... stories that resonate with the current socio-political and economic mood of the country. This film fits in perfectly with my pursuit, and I am also happy to start my association with Prernaa and Arjun."
About the film, Diana had told a leading daily, "I've always wanted to be a part of stories that are compelling. The events at Pokhran were historic for India and changed the way the world perceived us. I'm fortunate to be in the team that will recreate that piece of history on screen. Both production houses are known for the variety of their content. Also, it's an exciting time to be part of the film fraternity because there are incredible stories waiting to be told."
Parmanu was scheduled to release on December 8 last year. Its release date got pushed to February 23, 2018 and then to April 6. It is now scheduled for a May 4 release.
