Mantoiyat: Nawazuddin Siddiqui & Raftaar's bold and hard-hitting lines give us a taste of Manto's writings
Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be playing the role of Urdu writer Saadat Hasan Manto in Nandita Das' Manto. Today, the makers dropped a song Mantoiyat feature Nawaz as Manto and rapper Raftaar.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be seen as Saadat Hasan Manto in his upcoming film titled Manto. The film is helmed by actor-director Nandita Das. The trailer of the film was released a few weeks ago and Nawaz looks promising as Urdu writer Manto. Nawaz's uncanny resemblance to Manto has already left the audience stunned and they are looking forward to his unconventional biopic on the writer.
Manto was popular for his writing which is considered way ahead of the time. His views and thoughts on the society, partition (between India-Pakistan), women and other such issues made him a controversial figure. But there's no denying that he spoke the bitter truth in his books. His use of Urdu language felt like a poetry but showed the society its brutal truth.
Keeping in mind his writings and the topics Manto touched, the makers of the film released a song today called Mantoiyat. The video features Nawazuddin Siddiqui and rapper Raftaar. It is composed by Raftaar himself and the lyrics are a mix of some lines by Saadat Hasan Manto and the rapper. The song is quite hard-hitting where Manto and Raftaar question the society about its hypocrisy to look at sex as bad but having no control over the population. It also uses terms how f*ck is a cool word but the society disrespects women.

Along with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Manto also stars Rajshri Deshpande, Rasika Dugal, and Tahir Bhasin in pivotal roles. The film is slated to release on September 21, 2018.
