On stage, she was handed the Best Actress award by Javed Sheikh. However, netizens felt that Mahira turned the other cheek when Javed Sheikh greeted her. She was trolled for her reaction in public. Many felt that she snubbed the veteran actor. Mahira took to her twitter page and posted, “I have just woken up to such silly stuff floating around. It’s good to be aware and have an opinion but for Gods sake don’t use anything and everything to make news. Javed Sheikh of all people! He is a legend and a mentor to all of us in this industry. Would vouch for him always.”

Mahira was in the news recently for her leaked photos with the nation’s heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor. Mahira was clicked with Ranbir outside a hotel in New York City. She was trolled mercilessly for her attire. “I can only speak about my own experience. There are times when I’m at a certain place with certain people and I don’t want those private moments to be captured by anyone. But, you can’t help it. You got to take the bad with the good. I get to do what I love to do and I make a lot of money. But some things are irritating and you’ve got to take them in your stride. It’s a crazy world,” she had then said.
