Some movies become the talk of the town even before they reach the screens. This is exactly what has happened with the debut film of the famous wink girl Priya Prakash Varrier, Sridevi Bungalow. The trailer of the film was released a few days back, and since then, it has become a target of many controversies. The makers have been accused of basing the film on late actress Sridevi’s life, and her husband, Boney Kapoor also sent a legal notice to the makers of the film.
Amidst this, late Sridevi’s daughter, Janhvi Kapoor has been facing questions about the film. Recently, she was attending an event in Mumbai where the media asked about the Priya Prakash Varrier starrer and her take on it. On hearing the question, Janhvi kept mum and ignored the queries of the media persons. Her team too intervened and refused to let her face the questions alone. Post this, the Dhadak actress walked off from the event.

The trailer featured a scene where the actress who is named Sridevi in the film is drowning in the bathtub. This particular scene was eerily similar to the conditions under which the superstar actress lost her life. Late Sridevi died last year due to accidental drowning in Dubai which left everyone shocked. Recently, actress Priya Prakash Varrier defended the film and explained that it’s just her name in the film and nothing else. She said, “Sridevi is just the name of my character in the movie. Who would want to create such controversies? I think the curiosity surrounding the trailer is good and we have to leave it to the audience to judge if the film is based on the veteran actress Sridevi ma'am.”
The movie is facing a lot of flak on social media. However, the makers have taken the legal battle head-on and said, “We sent him (Boney Kapoor) a reply explaining that Sridevi was a common name and there was no logic in objecting to it. It is just a coincidence that my movie tells the tale of an actress named Sridevi.” The movie’s trailer surely created a buzz online as it also marks Priya’s entry into Bollywood.
