Gully Boy teaser: Ranveer Singh & Alia Bhatt introduce India to their version of Asli Hip Hop
The teaser of the much awaited film, Gully Boy was just released on YouTube. It features Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt sharing their journey from Rap to Riches. Take a look.
The much awaited teaser of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s movie, Gully Boy was just released on YouTube, and we have to say, it introduces all of us to real the real world of hip-hop. The 1 minute 30 seconds teaser is a prelude to the trailer which will be released on January 9, 2019. In the teaser, we can hear Ranveer Singh rapping, while we can also see glimpses of his journey from rags to riches. The teaser also features Alia Bhatt and Kalki Koechlin.
The movie is inspired from the lives of the rappers Vivian Fernandes aka Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy whose rose to fame was their track "Mere Gully Mein". In the teaser, we can hear Ranveer singing the rap as he goes on to become one of the most well-known hip-hop artists in the nation. Also, the tagline of the teaser is “Asli Hip Hop” which means that the makers want to acquaint the audience to the rise of the hip-hop culture in India.
Gully Boy is directed by Zoya Akhtar and is being produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The film features the journey of a 22-year-old boy from the slums in Mumbai played by Ranveer Singh. A few days back, the first look of the main leads in the film, Ranveer and Alia, was revealed via posters. Now, with this song-cum-teaser, we can clearly see the upswing of the hip-hop culture in India. Gully Boy is also going to premiere at the Berlin Film Festival. The movie is slated to release on February 14, 2019.
