Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam starrer Batti Gul Meter Chalu has been the talk of the town for a while now. Batti Gul Meter Chalu is co-produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Shree Narayan Singh, Nitin Chandrachud, Kusum Arora and Nishant Pitti. The movie has stayed in the news for all sorts of things, which include the delayed release and the legal turmoil. However, the makers have finally started promoting the film in its right spirit and first comes this impactful trailer.
Shahid had yesterday announced about the release of the trailer and wrote, "Mujhe Shikayat hai. Par sunega kaun? Kal se trailer chalu. #BattiGulMeterChalu @ShraddhaKapoor @divyenndu @yamigautam @TSeries @bgmcfilm #BhushanKumar @ShreeNSingh @KuttiKalam." Now, the filmmakers have finally dropped the trailer of the film and it does look promising. The film, of course, emphasises the ongoing corruption in the electricity board in parts of India. All the issues shown in the trailer are surely relatable. We also get to see Pyaar Ka Punchnama fame Divyendu Sharma who plays the role of Shahid Kapoor's friend. Shahid has given an electrifying performance while Shraddha and Yami have also suited the bill. But 3-minute trailer, one thing that is the highlight is veteran actor Farida Jalal. The actress who is famous for playing mother to Kajol in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, has become very selective about her films over the years. It is indeed very refreshing to see her as part of the film's cast.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu is about bringing the social issue of electricity shortage to the notice of people and to encourage authorities to investigate the inaccuracies of electricity bills. Kapoor is playing the role of a lawyer for the first time in his career along with Yami. Shraddha will be playing Shahid's love interest in the film. This is the second time post Haider that the two Kapoor have collaborated with each other.
Before the trailer, the makers unvieled the posters of the film. In the latest poster, both Shahid Kapoor and Yami Gautam are seen in their lawyer avatar, while Shraddha gives the prefect serious girl-next-door vibes. It is slated to release on September 21, 2018.
