Excited much?
PadMan is a biopic on Arunachalam Muruganantham, the inventor of low-cost sanitary pad making machines. Recently, Akshay was asked if he knew everything about menstruation in detail. The Airlift actor replied that it was one and half years ago that he actually got to know about it in detail when he started prepping for the film. He also added that currently, it's 82% of the female population of our country who don't have the access to sanitary pads. He hopes that even if 5% women out of 82% get the awareness, he has won the battle.
Akshay also stressed on the fact that sanitary pads should be free. He said, "It's need of every day and country. GST should not be there. I will say it should be free. A lot of countries are giving it for free."
In an earlier interview, when Akshay was asked about starring in PadMan which deals with the topic of menstruation, the actor stated, "If you change nothing, nothing will change. It’s not about being bold, but about breaking taboos that hold us back. I have lived with women all my life, yet I have learnt more about the topic while making this film than ever before. I do not mind who I offend or whose stomach I turn by being bold, this is not the Stone Age; menstruating is natural."
A few songs from the film like Hu Ba Hu and Aaj Se Teri have been revealed by the makers and the audience are already loving them.
