A leading Indian TV channel shows an old video of Om Puri's ghost; Twitterati trolls back
One of Pakistani channels went on to claim that Om Puri's ghost is looking for his murderer, but a leading Indian TV channel replayed it.
This year started on a sad note - just six days into 2017 - we all lost Om Puri, who was one of the most versatile Bollywood actors, on January 6. The whole country was mourning over the loss, whereas, one of the Pakistani channels went on to claim that On Puri's ghost is looking for his murderer. It was on January 14 when the video was published on YouTube.
But, the matter of concern here is that Aaj Tak replayed it and Twitterati went berserk after it was on air. One of the users shared the clip and wrote, "Not kidding but Aaj Tak just broke the story of how Om Puri ki Aatma Pakistan mein bhatakti hui dikhi. Real news." Other user tweeted, "Aaj Tak is showing bhatakti hui Om Puri ki aatma.. Ye India TV ban rahe hain!"
The Pakistani show claimed that Om Puri's ghost is looking out to seek revenge from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NSA Chief Ajit Doval. Wondering why? Well, the reason was given that Modi and Doval planned Om Puri's murder because he spoke in favour of Pakistani artistes when they were banned from entering the country in the wake of the Uri terror attacks. The Pakistani anchor went on to claim that the man wearing the white kurta in the video is Om Puri.
Om Puri passed away at the age of 66 years old and suffered massive cardiac arrest. The 89th Academy Awards or Oscars paid a tribute to Om Puri for his contribution to art and cinema.
When asked about how did Om Puri's family felt, wife Nandita and son Ishaan said, "The only Indian actor to have worked consistently in Hollywood and British cinema for the last 25 years, without a fuss and letting his work speak for itself, today the Academy of Motion Pictures acknowledged his contribution at its 89th Awards. The first and only Indian actor to be acknowledged thus. Thank you, Academy. Thank you, everyone. We miss you, Om. We miss you lots."
