“Television has destroyed the credibility of awards function”: SRK gets candid
Shah Rukh Khan today launched the Indian Academy Awards in the city. The 51-year-old upon his interaction with the media was heard talking about the credibility of the awards function and stressed on how the commerce and economic aspect is meddling with the real motive behind them.
SRK said, “Television has destroyed the credibility of awards functions to an extent. Honestly, what happens now is an award function is made more television friendly. It is really sad according to me. The organizers initially start with a lot of earnestness and ethic….but somewhere we get entangled in the loop. I won’t take away the fact that everyone tries to be credible, everyone tries to make the best step possible but I think that reasons of commerce and economics sometimes don’t let it go to the extent.”
“So the assumption every time is whenever a new award function begins and at such a platform and with such people (referring to Indian Academy Awards) who are making an earnest effort so you are hopeful…,” he added.
