The intense Trailer of Aligarh Proves Hansal Mehta is an Underrated Genius
Nearly two years after the release of the critically acclaimed Citylights, National award winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta is back with his latest directorial venture Aligarh. Based on a real-life event and touted as a social-drama, the film features the ever dependable Manoj Bajpayee in the role of a Marathi teacher who faces discrimination on account of his sexual orientation. Besides the veteran actor, Aligarh also features Rajkummar Rao in the lead. He essays the role of a journalist.
Judging by its terrific trailer, Aligarh is going to features a hard-hitting narrative and some extremely well etched out characters. Besides homosexuality, it may also highlight several important issues such as the plight of the “outsider”. Interestingly, the film marks the third collaboration between Rajkummar and Hansal. They had previously joined hands for Shahid and Citylights,
As far as Manoj is concerned, it is second film with the director. He had previously starred in his Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar.
As it so happens, Aligarh has already floored audiences at various film festivals. Hence, there will be tremendous curiosity surround it when the movie hits theatres next month.
