Watch: Kalki Slams The Indian Media And Its Audiences In Her New Hard-Hitting Video, ‘UnBlushed!’
Kalki Koechlin is not afraid of voicing her opinions. In the past, with her powerful take on feminism and on life and death, the actress has managed to get the attention of audiences on the untouched topics by celebrities, in general. In her recent outing, a new video from Culture Machine's UnBlushed series, we have Kalki reciting a scathing monologue she penned down on society and media.
Penned down and performed by the star herself, the video clip has used satire as a tool, in which Kalki is seen pointing towards how the media's portrayal of everything from a rape to a hanging has ended up instilling fear in every citizen! The clips YouTube description reads as, "Probably one of the most stirring invective against a culture that maybe going morally numb, one newspaper edition at a time. Kalki Koechlin performs a self-written poem titled 'The Printing Machine': a rhythmic and scathing satire against daily broadsheets, magazines, social media and textbooks.” In the five-minute long video clip, a distressed Kalki is commenting on how beauty advertisements in newspapers, have resulted into series of horrific events. Sadly, those events even go unreported.
Nimrat Kaur and Sayani Gupta have been featured in the previous episodes of 'UnBlushed,' a series that features female celebrities who are unapologetic, bold and beautiful.
