Top 5 KPop songs with super addictive choreographies!

Entering a KPop world needs dedication and patience. Dedication to learn the lyrics, memorise the dance steps and patience to keep a hold of yourself, because not everyone can be a dancer like a KPop artist. Since the first generation of KPop, from Seo Taiji and the Boys - the pioneers of KPop who started in 1992 to the legends and history makers BTS, there have been countless groups, infinite songs and innumerable choreographies that have been practiced, filmed and released.

The list for the super addictive choreographies can go on and on - just like BTS’ ARMY With Letter campaign. It’s no denying that KPop music also has dance as their key selling point - unlike the Western artists. Their dance has to be catchy, trendy, simple yet complicated enough for people to fall in love with the song as well as the dance. There’s always one part of the dance that is the major point - it majorly is the chorus part but it can also be anywhere in the song - and it’s called Key or Point Choreography. And that is the best part about them.

Choreographies play a major role in a song’s success. From perfect foot-tapping sync to elaborate hip hop or b-boying - KPop has it all. Today, we’re looking at 5 songs that are engraved in the audience’s memory - mostly because of their super addictive dance moves!

1. ITZY’s WANNABE - Ryujin’s Shoulder Dance (2020)

Like I said above, point choreography isn’t only in the chorus and ITZY member Ryujin’s shoulder dance is a perfect example of that. The first time the beat hits, Ryujin is in the centre, moving her shoulder and hands in a particular, rather fast-paced back and forth rhythm - first, with her arms closed then with arms wide open. And this is just the first step of the entire song!

2. TWICE’s I Can't Stop Me - Entire Chorus (2020)

As soon as the beat drops and we hear a “Hey!”, there’s no stopping us! The songs are groovy and the dance is addictive the moment you see it! Favourite moments from the song is the dance step at spot spot spotlight /  I know it’s not right and red red red line / 느끼고 싶어 짜릿한 highlight. The leg split during “red line part” and the waist-swinging at the “I know it’s not right” are absolutely perfect. Sometimes, I’d just go to the kitchen or stand in front of the mirror and do it. It’s that addictive!

3. SHINee’s Ring Ding Dong (2009)

Even the kids at ODG knew this song was addictive! Arguably the most famous and memorable SHINee song (mostly because of its catchy lyrics and dance steps), Ring Ding Dong stays in your mind and houses there for a good couple of days. The body sways during the “Ring” part of the chorus is what’s extremely attractive. In addition to that, it’s pretty simple in comparison to the other elaborate dance steps. It’s simple, fun and groovy. That’s why it makes it into our list!

4. Super Junior’s Sorry Sorry (2009)

Another groovy song from KPop sunbaes - Sorry Sorry. It’s smooth and has an average level of difficulty. It’s a satisfying visual and easy to replicate too! The key point of it is bending forward with folded hands and turning from left to right. The repetitive lyrics balance it perfectly and make them worth a try every single time! You can’t just listen to the song and NOT do the chorus step. That’s the charm of this old classic!

5. BTS’ Mic Drop (2017)

A list of addictive choreographies and no BTS mention? It’s impossible. It’s a different thing this list could’ve also been filled only with the worldwide megastars’ songs, but that’s not the case. One of the most memorable choreographies from the band is of the explosive song Mic Drop. Definitely not the average level difficulty level, but the dance is unique and makes your body move, subconsciously! There are other songs like Blood, Sweat and Tears, Go Go, DNA, Boy With Luv - but Mic Drop reigns over all them for me.

Bonus!

Rain’s extremely popular Bad Boy step from RAINISM (2008)

With contemporary R&B beats, RAINISM by the KPop legend Rain (Jung Ji Hoon) is probably the MOST addictive song on this list. Considering that it’s been 13 years and the song and choreography remain unforgettable. Simple. Classy. Memorable. Smooth. RAINISM is heaven to a listener’s ears!
