A swarm of bees interrupts game and leaves players ducking for cover in World Cup 2019
Bees halted play between Sri Lanka and South Africa in the CWC 2019
A bizarre incident interrupted play at Chester le Street during the World Cup 2019 clash between South Africa and Sri Lanka when a swarm of bees stormed the fied in the 48th over of the Sri Lankan innings.
Isuru Udana and Suranga Lakmal were batting, while Chris Morris was the bowler. A swarm of bees took over the field of play, which forced all cricketers from both sides and the umpires to lay flat on their stomachs as they ducked for cover. Morris, also took this time out to do a few push-ups and planks!
A similar incident had occured in 2017 in an ODI between the two countries when the third ODI at Wanderers was halted. Earlier, in India's Test match with Australia in 2008, when Australia was batting at the Feroz Shah Kotla at New Delhi a swarm of bees had halted play as well.
Twitter saw the funny side, however!
