Sri Lanka's Nuwan Pradeep ruled out of World Cup 2019; Kasun Rajitha named replacement
Nuwan Pradeep picked up five wickets in three games in the CWC 2019
Sri Lanka's World Cup campaign suffered yet another blow when their pacer Nuwan Pradeep was ruled out of the World Cup 2019 due to chicken pox. Seamer Kasun Rajitha has been named as his replacement.
Pradeep picked up five wickets in three outings, including one in their win over England last week. Sri Lanka has been stuttering in the edition with just two wins and 6 points (two additional points due to washouts), and are on the brink of elimination after their loss to South Africa earlier.
"Fast bowler Pradeep has been infected with chickenpox, which has ruled him out of further participation in the event," the International Cricket Council said in a statement.
The 1996 champions need to win their remaining two games and hope that other results go in their favour, if they want to step in the top four.
They play West Indies on Monday and then take on India on July 6.
