Sri Lanka vs South Africa, ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Toss update
South Africa have won the toss and opted to bowl first
Sri Lanka, still in contention for the semis berth, take on South Africa on Friday in the World Cup 2019. The Proteas are already out of the edition, and will be looking to play for pride.
South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl.
Faf: We gonna have a bowl Nas. Looking at the stats here, it's gonna favour the bowlers and it's a fresh pitch and hoping to get some seam movement, looks a good pitch and doesn't spin too much in the second innings. Two changes for us. Pretorius and Duminy come in for Ngidi and Miller. We are playing an extra batter today and hopefully that allows our batters to bat more freely. It is really important, the teams that we played against have done the opposite and they had really good starts against us and we always felt like we were playing catch up. We deserved everything that's come towards us, but it's important to try and put that to one side because that's not gonna make you play any better cricket. So far, we have played some good cricket, but we have not been consistent in making wire we put in performances that can win you a game. We gotta convert those 50s 60s into a big one and with the ball,we haven't got any one (maybe apart from Tahir) with the ball who stood up and said it's my day today.
Karunaratne: We wanted to bat first, seems like a good flat track and we feel we can put a good score and hopefully the bowlers will do the rest. One change for us, Suranga Lakmal comes in for Nuwan Pradeep. We want the experienced guys to stand up and take the responsibilities, Mali (Malinga) and Angie (Mathews) really did a good job in the last game. We just want to win this match and go forward and see how we can approach the remaining games.
