Sri Lanka vs South Africa, ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Avishka Fernando's battle with Imran Tahir to watch for

In a bowling attack that has been unable to rise the occasion, it has been only Imran Tahir who has been able to create some kind of impact. He has bowled a restrictive line and length that has made run scoring tough for the rivals. By getting the ball to grip and skid, the South African has overshowed the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi - seamers who were touted to be game-changers before the World Cup 2019 began.

However, he has risen to be the best bowler for his side, and the pressure on him will be enormous as South Africa take on Sri Lanka on Friday . His battle with Avishka Fernando - who played his first game of the World Cup in Sri Lanka's last game - will be of immense importance. The youngster scored a fluent 49 batting at number 3 against England, and looked at ease against the bowlers from the host country.

Tahir's stock ball - a delivery that deviates from the batters - might trouble the Sri Lankans. He was the star performer when the two sides last met - picking up 9 wickets from four games, and Tahir will, hence, walk into this game with lots of confidence.
