Sri Lanka vs South Africa Highlights, World Cup 2019: Disqualified South Africa drowns Lankan ship as well
Already disqualified South Africa almost ended Sri Lanka's ICC World Cup 2019 campaign as well. The Proteas registered an easy win of nine wickets at Chester-le-Street on Friday
After getting disqualified in the last match, South Africa on Friday drowned Sri Lanka’s ship as well at Chester-le-Street in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The Proteas produced a spectacular show after horrible last some matches, posting an easy win against Lankans.
Earlier, after winning the toss, South Africa decided to bowl first. The decision turned out to be a good one as Dimuth Karunaratne was sent back to the pavilion in the very first ball of the innings.
Later, the wickets kept falling for Lanka as Protea bowlers bowled exceptionally well. The pacers scalped the majority of the wickets, ending innings on 203. Chris Moris, Dwaine Pretorius picked three wickets each while as Kagiso Rabada also chipped in with a brace.
In reply, South Africa though lost the early wicket but made sure to build a big partnership afterwards. In the earlier games, they were missing these partnerships on the top, hence proving to be disastrous for them. However, in this match, opener Hashim Amla and captain Faf du Plessis played brilliantly.
The duo thrashed Lankan bowlers all around the park, finishing the match in just 37.2 overs. Hashim made unbeaten 80 while as Faf returned with 96 runs to earn South Africa the nine-wicket win at Chester-le-Street.
The Proteas, having already lost the race to semifinals, now also almost ended Sri Lanka’s campaign as well.
