Space Sweepers' Song Joong Ki on starring in 'Korea’s first space sci fi' film: I feel as if I’ve become a kid
Space Sweepers is set to premiere this weekend. As the countdown begins, Song Joong Ki talks about starring in "Korea’s first space sci-fi" movie.
Song Joong Ki and Kim Tae Ri will be seen in Space Sweepers this weekend. The movie has been coined as Korea's first space sci-fi movie. While the trailers have promised a fun ride through space, Song Joong Ki revealed he's extremely excited about featuring in the movie and the movie's release. In a recent press conference, the actor said that he feels as though he's become a child amid the release. As reported by Soompi, Song Joong Ki also said that the director might be feeling a little pressure due to the feat.
"I think that Director Jo Sung Hee probably feels the most pressure. Although he probably doesn’t want to feel pressured like a national athlete, I do think he feels pressured. I feel the opposite. I feel more excited and am looking forward to more things. I feel as if I’ve become a kid," he said. On the other side, Kim Tae Ri revealed she is feeling a sense of pride to have been associated with the project. The actress explained that when one mentions sci-fi, the mind wanders to Hollywood instantly.
However, Space Sweepers has changed that perspective for her. "I’m proud and feel good that we were able to use ‘Space Sweepers’ as a starting point and combine our strength to film. As an audience member, I’m also really looking forward to it," she said.
The actress also said that she was hoping for a theatrical release. However, since it is an OTT premiere now, Kim Tae Ri has requested viewers to recreate a theatrical experience at home. "A request I have is that you turn up the volume lots so you can view it loudly like in a movie theater. Then I think it will be realistic and you’ll enjoy it more," she said.
