When Rimi Tomy hit the headlines for her controversial statement in 2017

Malayalam singer-host Rimi Tomy is currently in the news for her divorce with husband Royce Kizhakoodan. The couple is said to have filed for the divorce petition. Well, this is not for the first time that Rimi has been in the news. The singer-turned-actress had been in the news in 2017 for her controversial statement in Dileep's assault case. Rimi Tomy, the famous playback singer maintained a good relationship with Dileep and his family back then. When Dileep was arrested in an assault case of a renowned actress, the police had collected information from singer Rimi Tomy as well. Apart from other actresses, Rimi too was interrogated in the matter. 

The cops had recorded Rimi's statement over the phone to get details about her US trip which had Dileep, Kavya (now wife of Dileep), Rimi and the assaulted actress. There were quite a few speculations about how Rimi gave statement against Dileep. Dileep’s illicit relationship with Kavya Madhavan had hit the headlines. After Dileep was released from the jail, Rimi and Dileep met each other during a private party and soon reports started doing rounds on how these two had nothing against each other. During the show, Dileep mocked Rimi over her non-stop blabbering and the two laughed on some inside jokes which proved that all is well between the two friends after the assault case.

Rimi's career kick-started with shows like Gaanaveedhi, Dum Dum Dum Pi Pi Pi and Music Live. However, she rose to fame with the hit number 'Chinga Maasam Vannu Chernnal' for the movie 'Meesa Madhavan' in 2002. Since then, there has been no looking back for Rimi.

Rimi Tomy has over 50 songs under her credit and in fact, she even went on to make her acting debut with a small role in Balram VS Tharadas. Later, she bagged a lead role alongside Jayaram in the movie Thinkal Muthal Velli Vare.
