Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi’s next film titled Thalapathy 64, has finally hit the floors, and after a formal pooja in Chennai, the shooting of the film has finally kick-started. Directed by Lokesh Kanagarj, prior to shooting for the film, the makers of the film performed a customary pooja today i.e. October 3, 2019, to mark the beginning of the shooting on the auspicious period of Navaratri.

Thanks to social media, a picture from the muhurat and puja is doing rounds but whether or not Vijay and other members attended the function still remains unknown. In the film, Vijay will be sharing screen space with Vijay Sethupathi for the first time, and Vijay Sethupathi, who was last seen in the role of a villain in Rajinikanth's Petta, is doing the antagonist's character in the upcoming flick. Besides Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi, Malavika Mohanan has been roped in to play the female lead, and Shanthnu, too will be seen in an important character in the movie.

Although there hasn’t been any official announcement of its release date but as per reports, the makers are planning to release the film on the occasion of Tamil New Year in April 2020. Meanwhile, Vijay's next movie Bigil is all set for release and Atlee Kumar's film, which has Nayanthara in the female lead, is likely to be released on 24 October this year. The film, which is being directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, will see Thalapathy Vijay in the role of a gangster while Vijay Sethupathi will play the antagonist. Making an announcement about Sethupathi being a part of the film, the makers of the film tweeted, “We are overwhelmed and excited to have our versatile star, '#MakkalSelvan’ @VijaySethuOffl sir on board for #Thalapathy64." Now, Thalapathy 64 makers have shared another big update. Malayalam actor Antony Varghese has been roped in for Vijay starrer. The production house tweeted, "The young and talented, #AngamalyDiaries fame @VarghesePepe steps into KTown with #Thalapathy64! Welcome on board!”
