Vijay Sethupathi opens his heart out on doing Super Deluxe: I begged to do the film without any payment

Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi left the audience amazed with his role of a transgender in Super Deluxe. Vijay's powerful performance in the film will be remembered for the longest time. However, taking up this role was not so easy for the actor. Vijay Sethupathu was apprehensive and wasn't sure if he would be able to do justice to the role. Recently, during a round table interview with Film Companion, Vijay spoke his heart out about taking up this role and why he didn't want to let it go as well.
He said, "When asked if he had any moment of fear with Super Deluxe, Vijay Sethupathi shared, "When I was narrated the script, I liked it so much because the way it was written was so awesome. Once my kid asked me 'why didn't you born as a female'....the scenes were written so well that I didn't want to miss the film. I was like I don't know how I would do this but I can't miss this film. I told him (director Thiagarajan Kumararaja), begged him and said you don't need to pay me any money, I just want to do this film. The first day, the first scene I took about 50-60 takes and then I realized there should be female inside me. Then I got the confidence. I never ever wanted to copy anyone, I just want to feel the character inside me. If the scene touches me I feel it's ok, I never go to check it on the monitor. I don't believe in the concept of one or two takes. It takes en number of takes doesn't matter. I don't want to make a competition with my art form. I'm not competitive with my co-actor but with my art form."
Ranveer Singh, who was also a part of the interview added to this, "The guy who launched me, Manish Sharma, he called me and asked me to 'watch Super Deluxe....there is a 10-year-old kid in there and he will make you think about your whole life and graph. At first, I was like, please sir but when I watched it, Raasukutty is phenomenal...he is pure magic. Whoever hasn't seen it, should watch it for the chemistry between Vijay Sethupathi and child."
