Samantha Akkineni shares glimpses from the sets of her upcoming historical drama Shakuntalam; See photos
It is anticipated that the film will be based on the character of Shakuntala from the great Indian epic Mahabharata.
Samantha Akkineni took to her Instagram story and shared some photos from the sets of her upcoming film Shakuntalam, which is touted to be a historical flick. It was announced earlier in January that director Gunasekhar will be helming a mythical drama with Samantha Akkineni as the leading lady. Titled Shakunthalam, the makers also released a glimpse of Samantha Akkineni’s preparations for her look in the film. With the recent glimpses of the sets, it is understood that the preparations are going on at a brisk pace.
A couple of months back, the makers shared a video while revealing that they have started composing music for the highly anticipated film. Sharing it, they wrote, “Songs Composing starts. The much-lauded combination of Gunasekhar – Manisharma... and their beautiful melodies”. It is expected that the film will be based on the character of Shakuntala from the great Indian epic Mahabharata. It was reported earlier that the film will narrate the story of Shakuntala, daughter of the sage Vishwamitra and Menaka.

Launching the film, the makers also shared a captivating motion poster, which received a huge positive response from the fans. Other than this, Samantha Akkineni has two more films in her kitty. One of the films is directed by filmmaker Ashwin Saravanan, who directed Game Over and Maya. The film also stars Prasanna and Prashanth in key roles. She is currently busy with the shooting of Kollywood film Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal directed by Vignesh Shivan. The film also has Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles.
