Payal Rajput, who made her Tollywood debut opposite SS Karthikeya's RX 100 recently spoke about Me Too Movement and casting couch. The Punjabi and Tollywood actress recently shared some of the stories of being approached of sexual favours in exchange of work. She also spoke about how #MeToo movement has got no change in the society despite women being vocal about it.
In an interview with Times Of India, Payal shared her horrifying story about casting couch. She revealed, "That incident had happened after RX 100 released. Someone approached me, promising me roles in huge films. I’ve always been against this trend of expecting sexual favours in exchange of work, so I spoke out against it. But to be honest, such incidents happened to me when I was working for six years in Mumbai and Punjab too. I suspect I will face similar situations in the future as well. The fact is that despite the #MeToo movement, casting couch does exist; not just in showbiz, but every profession."
She further added, "The only difference is that some have the guts to speak about it, like the many women who did during the movement, and some don’t. I am outspoken and have been vocal about this, I don’t want to gain offers by compromising my integrity."
Payal also stated that she doesn't care about not getting work for speaking her mind and heart out. "Just because I agreed to bold scenes in RX 100, people shouldn’t think I will do anything to get movies!," said Payal during the interview.
Payal will be seen next in Venkatesh Daggubati and Naga Chaitanya's Venky Mama. She is also shooting for Ravi Teja's Disco Raja.
