Prabhas on the pressure of Saaho releasing after Baahubali: I have had so many sleepless nights
Prabhas turned a household name after the release of Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. The actor will soon be seen in Saaho.
Prabhas shot to fame with his brilliant performance in Baahubali. The actor essayed the titular role in the Tollywood blockbuster directed by SS Rajamouli and became a household name, not in the Telugu industry but in various corners of the country. Bollywood moviegoers began loved him and the film. Baahubali might be behind the Saaho actor but it has left an impact on him as a performer. In a new interview, the actor spilled the beans on how the biggest blockbuster in the history of Indian cinema has got everyone expecting him to deliver yet another success with Saaho.
Speaking with PTI, Prabhas confesses that the pressure of delivering another hit at the box office has left him with sleepless nights. He also admitted that Saaho was "mentally stressing" not because the script demanded a lot from him or due to the director. But because "of the baggage which Rajamouli gave me." "There is now a lot of audience, you don't even know which part loved you more. My friend told me how kids in Gujurat are singing Baahubali songs. So the pressure is also more. It is scary. I have had so many sleepless nights for 'Saaho.' I couldn't sleep for many days because of the stress. Suddenly it gets on to you," he said.
He said that following Baahubali, he might have earned recognition but he has lost some freedom. "There are people who know me around the country and in some parts of the world also. It's like a dream. I came to Mumbai so many times when no one would recognise me and now they know me, my face and come to me. You lose that freedom to go anywhere anytime without being recognised. As a Telugu actor, I could go anywhere. But this is a beautiful thing though," he said.
Baahubali took five years from Prabhas. Saaho took more than a year. With such time investment, Prabhas hasn't got a chance to sign too many movies. However, he says, "I want to do more films now. I've been kind of slow for the last six years now, though it has been so rewarding. I want to do at least one film a year, at least."
