Nithya Menen on trolls and body shaming: Actors are not lazy, of course it hurts me and I do get upset

Actress Nithya Menen has made a smashing entry into the Hindi industry. The South star, who made her debut with Mission Mangal, has successfully entered the Rs 100 crore club. While the actress has some a mix of interesting films in the pipeline, the OK Kanmani actress was recently quizzed in an interview about the trolling and body-shaming she faces on social media. Speaking to rediff.com, Nithya revealed that at some point in her career the trolling indeed has affected her.
Nithya opened up about weight issues and said that many a times people are blatantly ignorant. "I think people are ignorant because they assume automatically that if you have weight issues, it's because you are lazy and eat a lot. That's ignorance. I want to say that one faces weight issues very rarely because of being lazy and eating. Trust me, especially in the case of actors, we are not lazy."
The actress, who has experienced some mean comments come her way in the past, added that sometimes weight issues could be because of hormonal problems or other issues. "We need to educate people that weight is not just because we are sitting and enjoying our lives. Of course, trolling hurts me. I do get upset," Nithya said.
After Mission Mangal, Nithya will next be seen in Kolambi. The film is helmed by director TK Rajeev Kumar and the stunning Nithya will be playing the role of an actress who travels to Kochi for the installation of her art works at the Kochi Muziris Biennale.
