Late SP Balasubrahmanyam honoured with Padma Vibhushan Award: Chiranjeevi, Devi Sri Prasad elated over it
The veteran who died due to complications from COVID-19, is already a recipient of Padma Shri (2001) and Padma Bhushan (2011) from the Government of India.
It was announced yesterday that the late legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam will be honoured with Padma Vibhushan posthumously. Following the announcement, Megastar Chiranjeevi and music composer Devi Sri Prasad took to their Twitter space and expressed how elated they are to hear the news. Sharing a photo of the legendary singer, Chiranjeevi stated that it makes him feel pained to see the suffix 'posthumous' in brackets. Devi Sri Prasad, on the other hand, expressed his happiness to know the news and also congratulated Chitra for her Padma Bhushan award,
Chiranjeevi wrote, “Elated at the announcement of 'Padma Vibhushan' to my beloved brother SP Balu garu. Most deserving honor. Pained to see the suffix 'posthumous' in brackets. Wish he was here to personally accept it! #SPB”. Devi Sri Prasad wrote, “Elated on d news of dear #SPB Sir being awarded the #PadmaVibhushan You are always in our hearts sir. Heartiest congratulations to Padma Bhushan @KSChithra Chechi.. Congrats to all Padma awardees who make all Indians proud”.

SP Balasubrahmanyam has been conferred the Padma Vibhushan by the President of India, Ramnath Kovind. The veteran who died due to complications from COVID-19, will be given the award posthumously. It is to be noted that SPB is already a recipient of Padma Shri in 2001 and Padma Bhushan in 2011 from the Government of India. On September 25th SP Balasubrahmanyam breathed his last after he was receiving treatment in hospital for more than two months.
