Kamal Haasan as we all know is no new to controversies. The actor turned politician recently hit the headlines once again over his controversial statement. The Tamil star recently received backlash over his comment that Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse, "independent India's first extremist" was Hindu. Post his statement, slippers were thrown at the actor and a police complaint was filed against him. Now, Kamal Haasan has defended his remarks and also said that it is not advisable to arrest him. His anticipatory bail petition is pending before the Madras High Court for his 'Hindu terrorist' speech.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, the founder of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) party said: "I am not afraid of getting arrested. At the same time, there will be tension if I am arrested. Hence it is better if I am not arrested." The Vishwaroopam actor also made it clear that he was not making a request not to arrest him but it was an advice not to take him into custody.

According to Haasan, the actor had made a similar statement in an election campaign earlier but only now the matter was blown up.
