iSmart Shankar director Puri Jagannadh CONFIRMS sequel of the Ram Pothineni starrer in works
iSmart Shankar releases in theatres today. The film stars Ram Pothineni in the lead. While it is to see how the film works at the box office, director Puri Jagannadh revealed that he is already planning a sequel.
iSmart Shankar has released today and fans have embraced the movie with open arms. The movie's trailers and songs were already the talk-of-the-town. Now, the Ram Pothineni starrer has received good reviews from his fans. The sci-fi movie tells the tale of Shankar who has a micro-chip embellished in his head and the adventures that he becomes a part of. While it is to see how the movie performs at the box office, director Puri Jagannadh is already working on a sequel.
The filmmaker, in an interview with The Indian Express, Puri said that he has complete trust in the movie. It is this confidence that has made him prompt to make the sequel. He said, "I have a lot of confidence in the story. So, while I was writing the script, I decided to make the sequel of iSmart Shankar. In fact, we have also registered a title." Speaking about his current story, Puri said, "For new stories and ideas, we get inspired by Hollywood only."

Speaking about Ram Pothineni's role in the movie, the filmmaker said that the actor wanted to shed his good boy image for the screen. "We always wanted to do a film together but it could not happen. When I met Ram, he said he was bored with the good boy image and now, he wants to become a bad boy. So, we sat together to write the story of iSmart Shankar," he said. The filmmaker confessed he is tensed about his new release. He said, "After Temper, I did not have any hits. So, I do have a little tension about that. So, I thought smarter and made iSmart Shankar with a new point of view."
