One of the most popular and versatile actors of Indian Cinema, Mohanlal turns 59 today. Known as ‘The Complete Actor’, Mohanlal has acted in more than 300 films and is currently ruling million hearts of the audience like a boss. With his recently released film Lucifer, Mohanlal has time and again proved that he is the legend of Malayalam Cinema. The film grossed Rs. 200 crores at the box office and is one of the biggest blockbusters ever in Mollywood. The beloved Lalettan has earned a huge fan following over the years and continues to do.

Mohanlal is a wrestling champion and had won the title of Best Wrestler in Kerala in 1977-78. He continues to focus on wrestling and was also selected for the National Championship which was to be held at New Delhi. However, he chose acting as his career option and did not pursue wrestling as a career. He also owns the honourary ‘Black Belt’ in Taekwondo.
Did you know Mohanlal had refused to work with director Vishal Bhardwaj? When Vishal Bharadwaj started working for film Saat Khoon Maaf, he approached Mohanlal for the role of a police officer. He agreed to be a part of the film, however, he walked off citing reasons for focusing on Malayalam projects. Later, the director replaced him with Annu Kapoor.
Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her Malayalam debut with Mani Ratnam's Iruvar that released in 1997. The actress was paired opposite Mohanlal in the film.
Mohanlal has worked with Mammootty in 55 films together. In their first film together, Mammootty played the character of Mohanlal's father.
This isn't confirmed but apparently, the legend owns a plush apartment in the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa. Mohanlal considers Dubai as his ‘home away from home.’
