EXCLUSIVE: Rakul Preet reacts to being trolled for smoking scenes in Manmadhudu 2; Says 'I don't get bothered'
While a certain section of the audience loved Rakul's role in Manmadhudu 2 teaser, others took offence to a few bold scenes, as one of them shows her smoking a cigarette.
The Bollywood and Southern beauty Rakul Preet Singh will soon be seen in a Telugu film, Manmadhudu 2 opposite Nagarjuna Akkineni. The makers of the film recently released a new teaser to introduce Rakul's character Avantika and it went viral in no time. The teaser sees Rakul as Avantika in a free-spirited role. While a section of the audience loved Rakul's role in the teaser, others took offence to a few bold scenes, one of them shows Rakul Preet smoking a cigarette. However, not only Rakul but also director Rahul Ravindran and his singer wife Chinmayi Sripaada were trolled for being double standards.
A couple of days ago, Chinmayi slammed Kabir Singh director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's distasteful remarks in defence of his film's criticism. However, after she shared Manmadhudu 2, Chinmayi was trolled for being a double standard and appreciating her husband Rahul's film for glorifying smoking scenes. Well, Pinkvilla recently got in touch with Rakul Preet and the actress in a conversation spoke about how trolls don't really bother her.
She said, "I don't really get bothered by trolls. I think logo ka kaam hai kehna, kuch toh log kahenge. We are playing characters, now whether it is Kabir Singh, if Shahid is smoking in the film it does not make him a smoker. No way he is promoting smoking. He is playing a character Arjun Reddy that is flawed and he does those things. In real life Shahid Kapoor is a vegetarian, we all know that. People should disassociate to what we are playing onscreen is different and it is a story of that one person...we are not putting the entire girl clan into girls not showing in the right way. That's not happening. It is that one character Avantika that smokes and it's her story. Once you see the film, people will know why she does. Treat it like the character...For me, it was something different. I really don't pay attention to trolls...there are bigger and better things to do."
