EXCLUSIVE: Mahesh Babu on Bollywood debut: My plate is full for the next couple of years

South superstar Mahesh Babu, who stepped into the film industry with K. Raghavendra Rao's Raja Kumarudu, has come a long way and there is no looking back. The actor is currently riding high on success with his latest film, Maharshi. Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, the film also stars Allari Naresh and Pooja Hegde in pivotal roles. The socio-drama has made it to Rs 200 crore mark at the box-office. To celebrate the film’s success, Mahesh Babu took off to Europe with his family. Well, the superstar is back to India and is wrapping up some work commitments before he moves on to his next movie, Sarileru Neekevvaru.

In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, Mahesh Babu spoke his heart out about father Krishna, Bollywood debut, upcoming film Sarileru Neekevvaru and a lot more.

You clearly had a ball of a time with your kids and wife on holiday. Want to hear from you how was it spending time with family as this time, it was for celebrating Maharshi?

It was one of my memorable holidays...it was a special one because of the success of Maharshi and for my son !! His first World Cup match

What is the kind of Mahesh Babu we are likely to see in your next, Sarileru Neekevvaru?

Sarileru Neekevvaru is an entertaining commercial film I’m looking forward to starting it in July!!

You have had your share of flops in your career. But you treat success and failure on par.

Success and failure is a part of our profession!! You have to take it in your stride

You have an amazing fan following that swears by you. Do you personally choose to reply or interact with fans on social media?

I’m very thankful and grateful for all the love given to me by my fans world over!! And I owe a large part of my success to the.... I try to keep them informed and updated about my work as much as possible.

You have seen success growing up in the years with your father, Krishna, who is a superstar. His on-screen persona and fame has been incredible. Did you grow up in awe of it?

Yes, of course! I’m a huge fan of my father and grew up watching his work. He’s my idol and inspiration. He’s my evergreen superstar. 

Now that even Prabhas is making his way to Bollywood with Saaho, when are we seeing you making Hindi debut?

My plate is full for the next couple of years... So can’t say...

Ever if fans get lucky to see you making Bollywood debut, we want to know your favourite Bollywood director?

There are many directors in the Hindi film industry I would love to work with. Won’t be fair to say one as opposed to the other.

One Bollywood actress you wish to work with?

I think all the girls of today are immensely talented!!
