Chinmayi Sripaada on Vairamuthu’s sexual harassment allegations: No one has asked him any questions
Almost a year after the accusations, Chinmayi Sripaada has once again opened up on how no action was taken against Vairamuthu and all the men named have been successfully whitewashed.
2018 saw the rise of the #MeToo movement in India and many women in the country showed their courage to expose sexual predators in public. The movement gathered momentum in India and shook up the whole country, however, it died down slowly. Chinmayi Sripaada, one of the notable singers from South, took to social media and had exposed Tamil lyricist Vairamuthu of sexually harassing her years ago. Almost a year after the accusations, Chinmayi Sripaada has once again opened up on how no action was taken against Vairamuthu and all the men named have been successfully whitewashed.
Chinmayi Sripaada, after months, took to Twitter and once again has questioned media asking about Vairamuthu not being interrogated about the sexual misconduct allegations. She wrote, "Let me reiterate this. Almost a year since my outing Vairamuthu as a molester. Not ONE Newspaper or Publication has asked him ANY questions. How do the MJ Akbar’s and Vairamuthus escape any and All questions, get mollycoddled and party with the powerful? None of it makes sense."(sic)
In a series of tweets, she added, "Fact remains - all the men named have been successfully whitewashed. The women who outed their molesters always have the #MeToo movement mentioned in their articles. Zilch for the men. MJ Akbar, And until recently Kuldeep Sengar are examples."(sic)
The National Award-winning singer Chinmayi had got support from the actors like Siddharth, Samantha Akkineni and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. Many Indian celebrities including Rajat Kapoor, Chetan Bhagat, Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Nana Patekar were accused of sexual harassment.
