Southern beauty Amala Paul, who is currently in the news for her upcoming film, Aadai, has embroiled herself into a lot of controversies. The dusky beauty after appearing in supporting role in the Malayalam film Neelathamara, she received critical acclaim for the portrayal of a controversial character in the film Sindhu Samaveli. The actress has always been in the news for some or the other controversial reason. Right from being involved in #SuchiLeaks to the sexual harassment controversy and her divorce with AL Vijay, Amala Paul has hit the headlines for many controversial reasons.

Thrown out of Vijay Sethupathi's 33rd film: Amala Paul, in her long statement, accused the producer Rathienavelu Kumar of throwing her out of the film. The actress revealed of being replaced in the film after the release of Aadai teaser. “It’s just a patriarchal, egoistic, traditional mind-set of Chandarra Arts Production (production house of "VSP33") that this is happening right after the release of Aadai Teaser and my image is sabotaged with multiple baseless rumours that are mischievously being floated around in the industry,” Amala wrote in her statement.

The producers have ousted me from VSP33 only because of their regressive thought process and nothing else. Everything else is that you hear is just fodder for gossip mongers. In the end, the truth alone triumphs! #vsp33 #thetruth

#SuchiLeaks: Amala Paul was one of the top heroines whose name was involved in 'Suchileaks’ a couple of years ago. RJ Suchitra Karthik Kumar allegedly leaked intimate photos and obscene videos of top stars. The controversy took social media by storm. However, Amala Paul, who name was also involved, left everyone bowled with her witty response on the controversy. In an interview to leading Tamil Magazine, Amala reacted about the whole episode, “I was told that one of my leaked videos is going to be released on a Sunday. I was also eager to watch the video, but sadly the account was deactivated on Sunday morning itself. I was sad that I could not watch my video.”

The sexual harassment controversy: In 2018, Amala Paul had registered a police complaint against a Chennai-based man for speaking to her in a demeaning manner. In her complaint, she also said that the person behaved as if he was conducting a ‘trade for a sexual favour’. “He spoke as though he was part of the event. He spoke to me like he was someone known at the event. He spoke to me personally when I was alone inside. That’s why I have complained. He has spoken like he was conducting a sexual trade, for a favour,” she had told a leading website. 

Amala and AL Vijay's divorce: According to reports, Amala decided to end the marriage in 2016 after she was stopped from pursuing her career by Vijay’s family. However, Vijay denied the rumours saying only they know the truth of their relationship. On the other hand, rumours suggested that Amala cheated on him. AL Vijay has moved on in his life and is all set to marry Dr Aishwarya Rai for the second time this month.

Controversial remarks over the Telugu Ratsasan remake: Amala’s psychological thriller Ratsasan is being made in Telugu starring Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas in the lead, with Anupama Parameswaran reprising Amala Paul's role. However, the dusky diva was not happy about her film being remade. Earlier this year, Amala Paul reported having said, "No other actor can recreate what Vishnu Vishal did in Ratsasan. Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas can do the remake in his own style but he can't match the original."

Car registration controversy: In 2017, Amala hit the headlines after she was accused by a media house of using Puducherry-registered luxury vehicles in Kerala and evading a huge sum in road tax. Lashing out at the media publication, Amala posted on Facebook, "I am in a state of shock the way an age-old daily publication, formed on nationalist principles by freedom fighters of malabar region, is today digging such shallow ways to raise their circulations and garner public attention. I feel I have the right to speak against these unwanted speculations and harassment caused to me and my family, despite paying taxes of more than a crore this year alone. And especially now, even when the respective authorities have found no unlawful act on my part [sic].”
