Anushka Shetty to star opposite Venkatesh Daggubati in the Telugu remake of Asuran?

Asuran is being remade in Telugu starring Venkatesh Daggubati in the lead. While the rest of the cast and crew are yet to be announced, reportedly, Anushka Shetty has been roped in as the female lead.

Dhanush and Manju Warrier starrer Tamil film Asuran is one of the biggest films that released last month. The film opened to a massive response by the audience and critics alike. Asuran not only opened to a phenomenal response but also managed to earn huge at the box office. Asuran entered Rs 100 crore club and is still continuing to create the magic at the box office. Meanwhile, the film is being remade in Telugu starring Venkatesh Daggubati in the lead. While the rest of the cast and crew are yet to be announced, reportedly, Anushka Shetty has been roped in as the female lead. 

A few reports suggest actress Shriya Saran is likely to reprise Manju Warrier’s role in Telugu remake of Asuran, the latest reports say, Anushka Shetty has also been considered for the same. However, nothing has been finalized yet. The film will go on floors early next year. Announcing the project officially Suresh Production house has earlier tweeted, "#VictoryVenkatesh is going to play the lead in Telugu version of #Asuran The movie will be produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu and Suresh Babu and under V creations and Suresh Productions banners. #VenkateshDaggubati74."

Also, director Srikanth Addala has been signed to direct the Telugu remake of the Tamil film, Asuran. However, an official word from the filmmakers is awaited.

The original was directed by Vetri Maaran and the film is a story against caste. The film is an adaptation of Vekkai, a Tamil novel by Poomani.
