2015 romantic comedy-drama film, Premam changed the face of the Malayalam cinema. Written, edited, and directed by Alphonse Puthren, the film stars Nivin Pauly, Sai Pallavi, Madonna Sebastian and Anupama Parameswaran in the lead roles. The film not only changed people's perception towards cinema but was also a game-changing point for lead actors. The film also marked the debut of three promising actresses, Anupama Parameshwaran, Sai Pallavi and Madonna Sebastian.​

Premam was released on 29 May, 2015 in India, followed by UAE on 11 June, and it opened to a massive response by the audience and critics. Premam is a romantic story that explores infatuation and love of a George (Nivin Pauly) from school days to his youth period. One day, George decides to propose to Mary (Anupama Parameswaran), but he is afraid of her father who beats up boys pestering his daughter to win her heart. Sai Pallavi plays the role of a teacher name Malar. Its been 4 years today since it first hit the screens, here are eight interesting facts about Premam that you would want to know and refresh your memory once again. 

Made on a budget of Rs 4 crore, the cult film went on to collect Rs 42 crore at the Kerala Box Office alone and total Rs 60 crore worldwide. It was the highest grossing Malayalam film of 2015. The film had a theatrical run of 151 days in Kerala and 259 days in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The film was remade in Telugu with the same name. 

Not many might remember that the makers had chosen not to release the trailer of Premam before its release on the big screen. 

The film not only entertained or offered great visuals, music and talented actors but also delivered an immense amount of technical brilliance. 

You need to listen to songs of the film and it will get you into the mood. The song Malare,​ from Premam had crossed one core views on YouTube soon after its release. The song helped Vijay - the son of veteran singer Yesudas bag the Best Singer trophy at Malayalam movie awards of 2015.

The film has won more than 25 awards in different categories like Best Director, Popular Malayalam Actor (Nivin Pauly), Best Playback Singer – Male (Vijay Yesudas (for "Malare") among many. 

Not many know, Premam had created a huge buzz and at least 60 students of various local colleges were caught during the release by the police for bunking classes to watch Premam.
