Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman might have to choose between Cricket Advisory Committee & IPL due to THIS reason
BCCI Ethics Officer has ruled the Indian stalwarts Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman on Thursday on their twin jobs of being the CAC and IPL advisory and asked them to make a choice.
DK Jain, BCCI Ethics Officer has ruled out Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman and the two now have to make a choice between CAC (Cricket Advisory Committee) and IPL advisory. The twin jobs results in various conflicts of interest.
Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman are the mentors of their respective IPL franchise, Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Ganguly was given this order earlier and it was given to Laxman on Thursday.
In an interview with PTI, DK Jain said that one person with one post is the soul of Lodha committee recommendations and he has only tried to bring it out. He also mentioned that in Sachin Tendulkar’s case, the conflict of interest did not arrive as he had withdrawn from the position of CAC. However, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman need to decide how they would like to serve the Indian cricket going forward. Jain also said that while passing this order to Ganguly and Laxman, he has not done anything extraordinary.
He also added that based on this complaint, there could be complaints against the active members as well and they should be ready for that situation. “I have only decided what conflict of interest means as per the BCCI constitution," Jain added.
He further added that it is the first time that he examined the rules and gave his interpretation. He is not sure if it would be accepted by the board, but if someone wants to challenge it, they can.
