Song Hye Kyo makes a generous donation to honour Korea' s March 1 Independent Movement

Song Hye Kyo makes a generous donation to honour Korea' s March 1 Independent Movement

The March 1st Movement or Sam-il movement marks the first public display of the Korean resistance during the Japanese occupation in Korea from 1910 to 1945. It is also referred to as Mansae Demonstration or Mansae Undong. It is observed as a National Holiday in South Korea, this movement fanned the flames of Korean resistance and started Korea down the path of freedom from Japanese rule.

According to a report carried out by X Sports News, via Soompi, On this important occasion, Song Hye Kyo, alongside Sungshin Womens’ University’s professor Seo Kyung Duk, has donated 10,000 guidebooks to the Korean Cultural Center, Los Angeles. As part of the 'Meet Our Country’s History Abroad' series the act was done to commemorate the Samil (March 1st) Independence Movement, also known as the Manse Demonstration. Song Hye Kyo has previously donated similar guidebooks to the cities of Shanghai, Tokyo, Paris, and more. This is her fifth time participating in the series. These guidebooks were made available in both Korean and English and introduces the history of the independence movement in Los Angeles. Other details in the guidebook include the Korea National Association Memorial Hall, the Ahn Chang Ho family house, the place in LA that is related to Dosan (Ahn Chang Ho’s pen name) Ahn Chang Ho, Rosedale Memorial Park, and more. Song Hye Kyo also supports Korean education by helping provide Korean language services to famous museums around the world.

Meanwhile, Song Hye Kyo is confirmed to star in screenwriter Kim Eun Sook's upcoming drama, The Glory. The pre-produced series will consist of multiple seasons, and the first one will be eight episodes long. Song Hye Kyo previously appeared in Kim Eun Sook’s 2016 drama Descendants of the Sun, which was a massive hit.
