Shoaib Akhtar says ‘India dodged a bullet’ post India’s win against the Afghans by 11 runs in World Cup 2019
The Men in Blue won their fourth match in the tournament by 11 runs against Afghanistan at Rose Bowl cricket ground.
Former Pakistani bowler, Shoaib Akhtar criticised the Indian batting line-up and said that except for Skipper, Virat Kohli, the team’s batting performance was extremely poor. The team miserably failed in the batting and even criticised the slow batting of the former skipper, MS Dhoni. While talking about the game, Shoaib said that ‘India dodged a bullet’ in this game against Afghanistan.
Afghanistan’s win against India must have raised several questions and speculations amongst the fans. However, at the end, he also further added that the team fought back hard and it was a great game of cricket at the end. He added that the game against Afghanistan was a wake-up call for the Men in Blue and the team must learn from their mistakes.
The Indian team managed to put across just 224 runs on board in the first innings of the game against the Afghans. However, the team’s batting failed miserably and only Virat Kohli and Kedar Jadhav registered a fifty plus score in the game. The team’s bowling once again rose up the occasion and defended the total in the last over of the match. Jasprit Bumrah, who was named the player of the match, conceded only 39 runs in his 10 over spell along with the Hat-trick delivery of Mohammed Shami who led the team to their fourth victory in the tournament.
India will play its next match against West Indies on Thursday, 27th June at Old Trafford cricket ground, Manchester.
