Shin Se Kyung’s understated style from Bride Of The Water God is what fashion should look like in 2021
We are looking back at some of the most important style lessons from Shin Se Kyung character in Bride Of The Water God, and why they should also be implied in the current times.
While it has been years since the drama Bride Of The Water God wrapped up, we still can’t quite get over Shin Se Kyung who essayed the role of Yoon So Ah’s wardrobe from the hit show. Playing a neuropsychiatrist, Kyung often wore earthy colours and nothing too glamorous, but in current times, especially with the global pandemic, we can’t help but be drawn to subtle colours and understated fashion aesthetics. The 2017 drama followed the life of Yoon So Ah the neuropsychiatrist who was stuck under a mountain of debt, however as the show progresses the storyline picks up and we see the character looking brighter and brighter every day. Today, we are looking back at Yoon So Ah’s under-appreciated wardrobe, which, in our opinion, is truly what fashion should look like at the moment.
Pastel colours: All the clothes in Yoon So Ah’s wardrobe were super subtle and while they were not out of style, the character was least concerned with new trends and only focused on what suits her and is within her comfort. What could be more valuable style lesson in COVID times, comfort above all is truly a winning mantra.
Earthy tones: Inspired by the colours of nature, the character was always sported pulling off the colours of earth and nature. While they kept her looking cool and sophisticated, they also embedded a deep-rooted sense of simplicity in her style, which was a phenomenal trait.
Coats and more coats: While her style was understated and all about comfort, Yoon So Ah did mix things up every now and then with a coat. Don’t be fooled, it wasn’t one of those jazzy blazers, a warm, cosy and colourful coat went a long way with Yoon So Ah.
