Shikhar Dhawan posts an emotional video after being ruled out of ICC World Cup 2019 post his thumb injury
Indian opening batsman, Shikhar Dhawan who suffered from a thumb injury is now ruled out of the tournament, says he won’t be able to recover on time.
Shikhar Dhawan, who has played two matches so far in World Cup 2019 before his thumb injury was in an exceptional form in the tournament. The Indian opening batsman registered a brilliant century against Australia in the team’s second game where they managed to win by 36 runs.
Shikhar Dhawan posted an emotional message on his twitter account expressing his gratitude towards the fans. He tweeted, “I feel emotional to announce that I will no longer be a part of #CWC19. Unfortunately, the thumb won’t recover on time. But the show must go on.. I'm grateful for all the love & support from my team mates, cricket lovers & our entire nation. Jai Hind!”
In the video, Dhawan said that he wanted to make a video to show gratitude towards the prayers and love which the fans have been showering at him. He mentioned that unfortunately his thumb won’t be able to recover on time that he really wanted to play the World Cup and represent the country. He said that its time for him to go back home and recover well.
“I’m sure the boys are doing a great job at the moment and are going to do really well and win the World Cup. Keep praying for us and keep supporting us, your support and prayer are very dear to us. Thankyou for all the support and love.” he added in the emotional message.
The Indian team has been in an exceptional form throughout the World Cup and have won all the matches played so far. The team will further will its next game against Afghanistan on 22nd June, at Rose Bowl cricket ground.
